Please respond to the following post in a professional manner and APA cite any references: Thank you for an interesting post. ASD encompasses neurodevelopmental impairments in personal, social and academic functioning (APA, 2013). There has been talk in recent years about the use of immunizations, specifically MMR, Measles, Mumps and Rubella) having a linkage to such developmental disorders, although there has been no link through actual research. Families with children who have the disorder have shown a decline in immunization rates (Jain, Marshall, Buikema, Bancroft, Kelly, Newschaffer, 2015). I find it interesting the external environmental factors in which the public perceives disorders to manifest themselves, despite being no emperical evidence of such. I am only in my 40’s, but do not remember this many children diagnosed with developmental disorders as there is in todays society. What are your thoughts on why there is such a shift or increase in diagnosis? Amanda D.American Psychiatric Association. (2013). Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (5thed.).
